♦Gem Name: Spectralite (Facet-1F3C, Cut-4OH)
♦Nickname: Four-Oh, The Painter in the Caves
♦Gemstone Location: On her Belly
♦Appearance:
♦Personality: Spectralite can be defined as a nihilistic spouter of poetic prose rivaling your average first year philosophy student, combining it with the analytic vocabulary of her formal role in Gem Society. She can rattle on and on about the meaningless of life itself and one's pursuits, often to the irritation of what ever living being unfortunate enough to listen to her if they cannot appreciate it. When she is not bothering others with her one hobby, she is practicing her other: Painting. She travels around Earth, settling in an undisturbed system of caves for as long as she has a mind (and space) to paint to her heart's content. She does not mind what happens with the work afterward, and often humans or other gems come across her handiwork. Spectralite is not malicious (nor overtly sympathetic) to either Rebels nor Homeworld, though she primarily seeks out the contact of Rebel Gems on Earth as they at least do not normally threaten her on sight with combat. When she seeks out others it are mostly artistic rebel gems or even humans. When she faces any threat to herself she will flee at the first opportunity on her flying disk as detailed in her abilities.
♦Alignment: Non-factioned.
♦History: Spectralite (Facet-1F3C, Cut-4OH), Nicknamed Four-Oh, was a dime a dozen when she still fulfilled her purpose for Homeworld. She explored possible planets that were suitable for colonization to discern if there was any possible threats for a colony before the warriors swooped in. The lose of even a fair amount of Spectralites was seen as a calculated sacrifice if it meant that they could assess all the possible dangers that a planet might pose in a time were robonoids were still a distant reality. Four-Oh became heavily disillusioned with Homeworld's rapid expansion thanks to the harm to her fellow Spectralites and the low view other gems seem to have for them as disposable field researchers and scouts. All of this came to a climax when a team of Spectralites was send out to investigate to dangers of what was to become Pink Diamond's first colony.
Spectralite's entire perception of what alien life was changed when she started to observe humans. While they were to be regarded as a possible nuisance for a colony, Four-Oh became enamored when she encountered that these strange lifeforms seemed to make attempts at primitive art. Even a race of organic lifeforms which could be decimated in an instant by the whim of a Diamond seemed to be unconcerned with such a thought when they fully immersed themselves in such a pointless activity. Four-Oh decided to sneak away one day to a nearby cave and paint something of her own in an attempt to cure herself of her own negative feelings. When she had finally poured out all her frustrations in the form of expressive cave paintings, it was 5 months later and she had well overstayed her original deadline. She was presumed to be either shattered or defective and her remaining team had already left. Spectralite never even considered returning at that point.
Spectralite avoided most of the conflict during the first rebellion on planet Earth by ensuring that she never stayed in a place for too long, making what ever paintings she could in one cave before relocating somewhere else on the planet. Most of her work involved darker colours and themes of dread and hopelessness. Some of her paintings were found by Gems and Humans, the former calling her 'The Painter in the Caves' before she was eventually discovered by Rebels after the war when they all took shelter in the same grotto to avoid a Homeworld Patrol. From there on out she has been known to visit some rebels from time to time, her long solitude seeming to have been spend developing her now famed nihilistic poetry and observations. Still, she does not call herself a rebel, nor have she ever fought for their side.
♦Whereabouts: Earth, usually in caves.
♦Purpose: She used to be a scout and field researchers before she became a pessimistic cave hermit who likes to paint and wear black.
♦Gem Weapon: Spectralite was not made with a Gem Weapon, as they were observers and instructed to avoid conflict if possible.
♦Gem Ability:
Flying Disk; Spectralite's main ability is to create a small disk to stand on and using it to fly. She has full control over the disk and it can fly at a speed of about 50 km/h (30 Mi/h). The disk itself is fragile and it cannot bear a lot of weight and still fly, it is seemingly only able to hold Spectralite's weight because she can alter her own density to make herself light enough. Because of this she can be easily knocked off the disk if hit because she is extremely light at that moment.
Wall crawling; Spectralite has the secondary ability to walk on any surface without much trouble, wether they are vertical or horizontal as long as she has a foot or a hand on that surface. This allows her to stay on her disk without any trouble even while making aerial maneuvers or if she is scaling the wall of a cave.
